Box Hill electorate
Paul HAMER (Box Hill) (14:43): (803) My question is to the Minister for Environment, and the question I seek is: when will the heritage trams at Wattle Park be replaced and made available for community use? Wattle Park is a wonderful suburban oasis, providing a vital space for surrounding communities to connect with nature. Over the last couple of years the Allan Labor government has invested more than $5 million in this much-loved park, which has included the creation of a new all-abilities play space featuring swings, spinners, water play, a sensory garden, a double-storey tram fort, an upgraded picnic area and 3.25 kilometres of upgraded running and walking tracks for visitors to enjoy. But the undoubted highlight of any visit to Wattle Park is the heritage trams, which for decades have been a key feature of the picnic area. The Box Hill community is looking forward to knowing when the famous Wattle Park trams will once again be ready to board.
