 Steve McGHIE (Melton) (10:22): As this is my last statement for the 60th Parliament, I want to take the time to thank a few people. Firstly, I thank Premier Andrews for inviting me to represent Melton and also for his strong and great leadership in very trying circumstances during the COVID period. I thank Premier Allan for her tireless work, her friendship and support and for allowing me to continue as her cabinet secretary. It was a great honour. To Premier Carroll, I wish him the very best for the upcoming election and for his leadership. Of course I want to acknowledge Broden Borg, the Labor candidate for Melton. He will do an amazing job.

I want to thank my parliamentary secretary staff, my cabinet secretary staff and all the ministerial staff. Your support and efforts have made my job much easier. To the Bacchus Marsh and Melton branch members, you have been wonderful to me and I thank you all. To my electorate office staff, thank you for helping hundreds of constituents and for your support in helping me to get things done in Melton. We have delivered a lot, and you should be very proud. Of course I cannot forget Bracks the dog, who has brought much joy to many in the annexe and the precinct. To all my colleagues during the 59th and now the 60th Parliament, you have been amazing to work with with your friendship, camaraderie and socialisation. I have to apologise for some of that.

Finally, I thank my wife Janet. She has been an incredible support. She was the one that said, ‘If you want to do this job, then get on with it.’ Thanks, Janet; now we can head off in the motorhome and see the country. That is it for me. Thank you, everyone, and goodbye.
