Sarah CONNOLLY (Laverton) (14:31): (1811) My question is for the Minister for Health. The virtual emergency department is helping Victorians get the care they need when they need it. It is the first of its kind in Australia. Victorians can access 24/7 video calls with qualified doctors and nurses anywhere at any time for the urgent health care they need. No referral, no appointment, not even a Medicare card is needed to use this service. The virtual ED now averages more than 1000 patients each and every single day, which is why last year we tripled its size and made it permanent. Labor has also built 12 hospitals, upgraded dozens more across the state and increased our healthcare workforce by 50 per cent. Only Labor backs our healthcare system and working Victorians. You will never see us preside over $40 billion in cuts to health services or privatise our hospitals. With free dental clinics up next, we are expanding access to health care for even more Victorians. My question to the minister is this: how is the virtual ED delivering better access to health care for folks in Laverton?
