Bridget VALLENCE (Evelyn) (14:32): (1812) For years this Labor government has neglected dangerous Yarra Valley roads. Warburton Highway in Seville East is notoriously dangerous in the vicinity particularly of Douthie and Sunnyside roads through to Peters Road. Together with the community, for years we have advocated for road safety upgrades, yet this Labor government and its Department of Transport and Planning continue to fail to invest in the vital safety upgrades needed to make Warburton Highway, Seville East, safer for local motorists and pedestrians, especially the schoolchildren crossing the road from the bus stops. My question is to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety on behalf of Seville East, Seville, Gruyere and Wandin residents: why has the Carroll Labor government failed to upgrade the dangerous stretch of Warburton Highway, Seville East, to make it safer for residents and tourists? Despite VicRoads undertaking a review in 2019 – seven years ago – the Labor government has done nothing and the road remains dangerous. Meanwhile, they have prioritised inner-city Big Build projects, wasting $15 billion on corruption, criminals and bikie gangs. Thanks to our first responders, Seville CFA and Wandin CFA brigades, for their tremendous work.
