Tim BULL (Gippsland East) (14:30): (1810) My constituency question is to the Minister for Health on behalf of Shane from Maffra, and the information I seek is: when will we see improvements to the public surgery waitlists? Shane broke his hip in a car accident on 25 September last year. We are two weeks off a year on, and he is still waiting for surgery. He is a category 2 patient, so he should have received surgery within 90 days, but he has been left sitting at home on painkillers. After months he finally received a call to say surgery would take place, but it was cancelled. Then it was rescheduled. It was meant to occur this week, but on Monday he received a call to say that it had been cancelled again. His doctor is now concerned about deteriorating blood flow to his leg. Let that sink in: one year living at home with a broken hip. Victorians deserve better, Shane deserves better and the government must explain why people like Shane are being left behind.
