Lauren KATHAGE (Yan Yean) (10:05): Hazel Glen College’s production of Beauty and the Beast had the audience excited before the curtains even went up. Parents were arriving at the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre clutching flowers, full of emotion and anticipation, waiting to see their kids take the stage. Then it was time for Be Our Guest. What followed was a polished, energetic production and a striking showcase of the talent at Hazel Glen College. The performances were really terrific, but what stood out was just how many students were involved in bringing the production to life, both on the stage and behind the stage with costumes, props, sound and production. I want to recognise director Steph Williams, assistant director Emmie Hale, music director Damian Marshall, choreographers Cass Papotto and Georgia Rodda, costume lead Mahalia Rank, acting coach Joe D’Aspromonte and props lead Adam Sarros, together with all the teachers, staff and families who gave so much time and energy to the show. Special thanks and appreciation to Ellie Faralla, Tobey Lambert, Amelia Isatchenko, Peyton Condon, Will Attard, Mutsa Kundodyiwa, Aji Chumber, Emily Harding, Amileya Moro, Georgia Percy, Will Baillie, Mieke Van Nugtreen, Olivia Salisbury, Brynley Clough, Lilly Haas, Adam Janakievski and Parker Harris for such a fantastic production.
