Nepal and Tibet floods
Chris COUZENS (Geelong) (10:01): The tragic flood disaster in Nepal has an unknown number of lives lost and has impacted on the health and wellbeing of so many people. For many people the floods have brought unimaginable loss and uncertainty. They know there is a very long journey ahead. The Geelong Nepalese community recently held a vigil in Geelong. The member for Lara and I joined them, coming together to support and comfort those who have lost loved ones and for those who are still missing.
The Geelong Nepalese community have organised a fundraising dinner in collaboration with Lara Sporting Club to support Nepal flood victims on Monday 21 September. The funds raised will be donated to Nepal flood victims, with a focus on displaced children. The community of Geelong sends its support and strength to Nepal. I know there are many people across our communities wanting to do something for the people of Nepal. Buying a ticket is a great way to do that.
