Jade BENHAM (Mildura) (09:39): The Nationals are ready to get on with the job of strong and stable government, with a positive plan to rebuild regional Victoria. The Nationals will fix our roads, investing $5 billion to repair and rebuild our state road network, plus $288 million for local country roads and bridges. The Nationals will also tackle crime, with 3000 additional police, tougher bail and sentencing laws and consequences for repeat offenders. The Nationals will rebuild regional health care, attracting more doctors, nurses, midwives and allied health professionals and getting mental health reform back on track. The Nationals will build more homes, cut red tape and unlock land so young people and families will have a better chance to buy a home and build their dream home and renters will have more affordable choices. The Nationals will ease the cost of living, scrapping Labor’s emergency services tax and unlocking our plentiful conventional gas reserves to deliver affordable and reliable energy to keep our power bills down. But that is not all. Through the Nationals’ fair share guarantee the 25 per cent of Victorians who live in regional Victoria will finally get 25 per cent of new infrastructure investment that we absolutely deserve. These are the things that country Victorians tell us matter: better roads, safer communities, better health care and more homes and lower costs.
