Nicole WERNER (Warrandyte) (09:48): Three years ago the electorate of Warrandyte took a chance on me, the daughter of migrants, someone who had not grown up in politics and the first woman to represent the seat of Warrandyte. Since then I have worked hard every single day to earn my community’s trust. I have stood up in Parliament for people who feel done over by the system. I have fought for real action on crime, for stronger laws and for safer communities. I have fought for children in our care system that this government has let down. I have not been afraid to call out the waste, the broken promises and the billions in corruption that should have gone into our roads, our schools and our hospitals. I have embedded myself in our local sports clubs and met locals at hundreds of community events. I have sat in tears with residents who have been hard done by and taken up their fight. When our community looks at the ballot paper in Warrandyte, there is only one name on it who has been fighting for them every single week in this Parliament. I am laying my record on the line and asking again to have the honour of being the member for Warrandyte. As I said in my maiden speech, I have not come here to make a career; I have come here to make a difference. From Doncaster East to Chirnside Park, from Ringwood North to Warrandyte to Wonga Park, I am asking for your support so I can keep making that difference and keep fighting for our community.
