 Pauline RICHARDS (Cranbourne) (09:55): There is a lot going on in Cranbourne, Clyde and Clyde North. I am not sure if you have heard the news, but we are upgrading the Thompsons Road and Berwick-Cranbourne Road intersection to ease congestion and make people’s journey home safer and more reliable. Right now they are finishing major works on the intersection, and it will be reopened to traffic in just a few weeks.

But wait, there is more. The Clyde-Five Ways Road and South Gippsland Highway project is underway, and I could not be more impressed. We are improving safety with new traffic signals at each intersection, we are making it safer and easier to walk around the area with upgraded footpaths and signalised pedestrian crossings and of course we are improving traffic flow. From late September through to Christmas we will move into the final stage of major construction, so I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who lives in the area for their patience and also thank those people who are working on the project.

But wait, there is more. Last weekend the Minister for Roads and Road Safety announced that a re-elected Carroll Labor government will widen Evans Road between Thompsons Road and Central Parkway in Cranbourne West. Work is already underway further up Evans Road, so this is going to make a huge difference to everyone moving around the Cranbourne area. Cranbourne is unrecognisable at Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, Hall Road, Evans Road and Western Port Highway, and dangerous level crossings have been removed, including at Camms Road. We said we would do it, and we have. There is a lot going on in Cranbourne.
