West Tarneit train station

West Tarneit train station

Dylan WIGHT (Tarneit) (13:01): West Tarneit station will officially open on Sunday 13 ‍September, delivering better access to public transport for local families and helping to ease pressure on nearby Tarneit station, which has more than 1500 car spaces – it is one of the largest station car parks anywhere in the network. West Tarneit station will feature a four-bay bus interchange and more than 1100 services added to the local Tarneit bus network, providing more frequent and convenient connections. But we are not stopping there. More nine-car VLocity trains will run during the morning and afternoon peaks, increasing capacity by 50 per cent and creating space for more than 12,000 additional passengers.

While we are encouraging commuters to use the improved bus network to access our stations, we know West Tarneit will also need more car parking as the area continues to grow. Land has been set aside for additional parking on the northern side of the station, but we need the necessary access roads delivered. That is why I am calling on council and developers to get on with building the access road off Davis Road and the extension of Modesto Drive so we can unlock the site and get this much-needed car park built. I am proud to be part of a government that is investing in essential infrastructure for Melbourne’s west, not cutting it.
