Member for Brighton
Natalie HUTCHINS (Sydenham) (12:58): Recently a constituent of mine brought to my attention some extremely wasteful electorate office spending by the member for Brighton – expenditure that would not pass the pub test in either Sydenham or Brighton. This egocentric piece of self-promotion by the member for Brighton came not in one volume, not in two volumes but in three volumes of around 260 pages entitled ‘Selected parliamentary speeches’. Everyone in this chamber knows a parliamentary speech is for free online. You do not need to print it and waste an estimated $120,000 on a look-at-me exercise – a waste of money so indicative of his arrogance. It is the same arrogance that we have seen in this chamber by the member for Brighton towards Labor women. He has called me, personally, unpleasant, nasty and a slug whilst I was giving an update on pads and tampons in this place. But this is not just behaviour towards Labor women. He has also done it to Liberal women. In fact there are Liberal women that have left the party, in particular 85-year-old Jan Cooper, who he filmed and harassed at the last election, and former Bayside mayor and long-time Liberal member Felicity Frederico, who was bullied in preselections. Integrity and respect are not high on that member’s agenda.
