Matthew GUY (Bulleen) (12:53): The potholes in Manningham are out of control. They have never been this bad. Our state roads have never been in such a poor condition. Why wouldn’t they be when the state government is putting every cent it has got into the Suburban Rail Loop at the expense of road maintenance? Road maintenance has been cut under this government. As a consequence, Doncaster Road is in terrible condition, and Manningham Road and Templestowe Road are in poor condition. Recently on Newmans Road more than a dozen cars were damaged at night from a pothole that developed within 12 hours. Many people were left thousands of dollars worse off. But remember it was Labor’s own upper house MP Sonja Terpstra, who I might add is a member for this area, who said the residents want these kinds of potholes. Never before have we seen a government so out of touch. We will see the public’s anger and resentment at such an out-of-touch government come out at the November election.
