Constituency questions

Pascoe Vale electorate

Anthony CIANFLONE

Pascoe Vale electorate

Anthony CIANFLONE (Pascoe Vale) (14:31): (1709) My constituency question is for the Minister for Cost of Living. How many Victorians and people across my electorate of Pascoe Vale, Coburg and Brunswick West have claimed the Victorian Labor government’s 20 per cent car rego rebate? The rising cost of living is continuing to be felt by many households across the state and in my community, including as a result of Donald Trump’s ongoing war in Iran, which is continuing to push up petrol prices. That is why I am proud to be part of a Victorian Labor government that is continuing to take real action through a range of measures to support Victorians and help make life a bit easier and more affordable, including through our 20 per cent car rego rebate, which provides for eligible motorists to claim up to $186 per car or $372 for two cars. Claims must be submitted in coming days, at the latest by 31 July. I understand that as of last week around 3.5 million Victorians had already claimed the rebate, and over $600 million has been provided back to household budgets. Whilst the Victorian Liberal and One Nation coalition have opposed these cost-of-living relief measures, Labor will remain firmly on the side of Victorians. I would welcome insight from the minister on how much has been refunded to local households in my community and how many have accessed the 20 per cent rego rebate in my area.
