Crime

Crime

David SOUTHWICK (Caulfield) (13:03): Shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic does not stop a sinking ship. Just have a look at this rabble that call themselves a government. This is an end-of-days government that is so focused on itself and fighting itself rather than fighting things like crime, for law and order, and corruption. We see it every single day. In my electorate of Caulfield we have constituents that have a WhatsApp group that are calling out for the government to do something. We have a plan, unlike the government, which has no plan, to tackle crime – 3000 more police, so we can get police when we need them. This government wants to take 200 PSOs off our train stations at a time when we have a crime crisis. In my electorate of Caulfield we have Glen Huntly, Ormond, Elsternwick, Gardenvale and Ripponlea, all of which will have PSOs ripped off their train stations. This government could not care less when it comes to law and order because they are too busy fighting themselves. What a Wilson Liberal government will do is put 200 PSOs back on the platforms at Glen Huntly, Ormond, Elsternwick and Gardenvale.

Members interjecting.

David SOUTHWICK: I have obviously hit a nerve with the government, which is so inwardly focused. We will tackle crime, we will tackle law and order and we will put 3000 police back, and instead of fighting ourselves and fighting for our own jobs – because this government could not give a toss – we will ensure we will fight for all Victorians, because that is what Victorians expect, not a corrupt lot like you.
