Katie HALL (Footscray) (13:01): Today I would like to acknowledge an organisation that is not a cult; it is a choir. Congratulations to Pitchface, Melbourne’s very own inner-west choir, which was established by four friends who were mums at Footscray City Primary School. Eight years on the choir had an amazing event on Saturday night, where we broke the world record for the number of people together wearing double denim, which is of course Pitchface’s uniform. It was a magnificent night. The choir has gone from strength to strength. The choir has performed with Coldplay. The New York Times commented that only in Australia would you have a choir singing the national anthem at the Australian Open called Pitchface. They did an amazing job. On Saturday night it was incredible to see the Palais packed out with supporters of Pitchface, and I was delighted to be there with my family decked out in double denim to support these amazing women. The choir does so much for our community. For me personally, it is a space where I get to join some friends and have a sing. Congratulations, Pitchface.
