Albert Park electorate road safety

Nina TAYLOR (Albert Park) (13:23): Hooning I know certainly drives locals in my area crazy and certainly those in many other parts of the state. It is not exclusive, I should say, to our state; it is across the country and globally. But I have been very committed to driving outcomes and doing everything I can to curb this unlawful driving, because it really is very destructive to amenity and can be dangerous as well. So I am really pleased to see that we have had a milestone in terms of moving the acoustic camera trial forward. Now very important partnerships have been formed with the City of Port Phillip, the City of Stonnington, the City of Knox and the City of Casey, and this will be rolled out later this year. I first of all want to thank Mr Dimopoulos, because when he was Minister for Environment he did agree to anchor the funding for this trial, and Minister Erdogan, who is now carrying that funding and the trial on, and also the EPA. They are a key player in this space, because we are talking about that horrendous noise, let alone the erratic and unlawful driving, which really does not belong on suburban roads, thank you very much. It is very selfish and self-absorbed, which is why we are doing everything we can as a government to tackle this. This is an additional tool to what Victoria Police do day in, day out, every day for us all to keep us safe.
