Sarah CONNOLLY (Laverton) (14:36): (1751) My question is for the Minister for Public Transport. In just a couple of weeks more train services are coming to our train lines in Melbourne’s west as we deliver on our share of the big switch resulting from the Metro Tunnel, unlocking extra capacity for services across our rail network. From 23 August services on the Werribee line as well as Laverton services will benefit from more than 180 additional weekly services. That means more services in peak hours, so if you are catching a train from Williams Landing or Aircraft or Laverton in my electorate, you will be able to catch the train so much sooner. Of course the Werribee line is not the only line in my electorate to benefit from these changes. The Wyndham Vale line is also finally going to get more peak services exclusive to it in addition to the high-capacity V/Line trains that we funded in the budget, boosting capacity on these services by 50 per cent. So my question for the minister is this: how will these timetable upgrades benefit communities in my electorate of Laverton who use the Wyndham Vale and Werribee lines?
