Ben CARROLL (Niddrie – Premier) (14:12): The job of a government is simple: to make life better for working people, and that is exactly what our Labor government is doing. It means investing in education, health and a world-class public transport system and a new school close to home, a nurse on call, a brand new hospital, boom gates gone, cheaper public transport, free kinder, free breakfast and free dental. Victorians filled out their census last night and were asked, ‘Where were you five years ago?’ For those opposite it is the exact same place they are today. On our side it is 90 level crossings removed, 100 new schools, free kinder, free breakfast, free TAFE, getting on and building the nation and getting on and making sure every child can fulfil their dreams. They are in the same spot they were five years ago; even worse, they are now negotiating with One Nation. The Leader of the Opposition on radio today again would not rule out supply. We know on our side we will always build a better tomorrow through health and through education. For them it is the same: it is always promising a better yesterday. We are the party that gets on and builds. We know they are the party that will cut $40 billion and will hurt working people. We will always fight for working people.
