Brad ROWSWELL (Sandringham) (10:33): Six candidates, six communities but one shared commitment to offer Victorians the fresh start that they deserve and to deliver a government that works. In Melton I doorknocked with Jarrod Bingham, a local snake catcher who has spent a decade protecting Melton families from snakes in their homes, and now he wants to catch snakes in Parliament. A mighty effort – he has personally knocked on 13,000 doors. In Sydenham I met Nathalie Moussi, the candidate there, a local small business owner. Just days after Natalie was preselected, we visited businesses together and doorknocked as well. In Hastings, I campaigned with Frank Schiefler, a former army serviceman turned political adviser, ready to fight for a community let down by police station closures and rising crime. In Bass I stood alongside Rochelle Halstead, the current mayor of Bass Coast. She and her husband have been local small business owners for years, and the great thing about Rochelle is that she is local through and through. In Bayswater I not only met with but campaigned with David Kitchen, a finance manager at a food processing company who understands household budgets and the cost-of-living pressures facing local communities. We also visited local schools together. I commend every single one of these candidates to the communities that they seek to represent. I thank them for their service, I thank them for their efforts, and what a wonderful part of the team they will become.
