Daniela DE MARTINO (Monbulk) (19:02): (1770) The Basin CFA new station is underway, and the excitement is palpable for those of us across the Dandenong Ranges that this new station will be built imminently. I had the pleasure of joining the member for Bayswater, along with the candidate for Bayswater Julie Buxton, and we went along for the sod turn. It was a wonderful occasion to see the construction commencing, but I would like to know – and I would ask the Minister for Emergency Services if he could please provide an update on – the timeframe for the completion of the build of The Basin fire station. As I say, the people of The Basin are eagerly awaiting this. It is a very exciting moment for all of us. For those of us on top of the mountain too, we know that The Basin CFA provides a crucial service, because their intervention of any fire commencing at the base of the hill protects us at the top of it too. The Basin CFA, I would like to commend them all and the captain Corey Schmutter. It was great to actually attend their awards only a few weeks ago. They do a fantastic job keeping the community safe. They answer the call. They are volunteers. They run towards the danger when the rest of us run away from it, and they truly are the very best of us. I will be grateful to receive the update in due course.
