Adjournment
Bellarine electorate early childhood education facilities
Alison MARCHANT (Bellarine) (19:15): (1764) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Children. It was great last week to announce a new kindergarten for the Point Lonsdale community, which will open in 2029. This announcement was in addition to a couple of other kinders and early learning centres we have announced for Ocean Grove and St Leonards. As a former primary school teacher, I know that these kinders are really important for our local community so families can send their children to local kinders and they can be with the children that they will most likely go to primary school with. The Bellarine is continuing to grow, and these have been really welcomed by the community. We are investing in this for kids now but also into the future. We are also ensuring that families can access that three- and four-year-old kinder close to home, and we are really proud to be supporting families with that free kinder roll-out. It is important too that the locations of these kinders are going to be near primary schools and on school sites, so it is really going to benefit the families to do that one drop-off so they could do a kinder drop-off or a daycare drop-off and a school drop-off as well. The action I seek from the minister is to provide an update on how these new early learning centres and kindergartens are going to benefit the growing families across the Bellarine.
