Anthony CIANFLONE (Pascoe Vale) (15:46): Over recent weeks I had the absolute pleasure of welcoming multiple classes from my former primary school, Coburg West Primary, to Parliament for a tour and to present certificates to students who participated in the parliamentary prize and speech competition, including Scout from 5E, who spoke about using Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander place names more often. Elena from 5T spoke about dedicating increased funding for the Lost Dogs’ Home. Ella from 5T spoke about the need to combat bullying and foster respectful relationships in schools. Eda from 5T spoke about the need for greater fairness, equality and inclusivity in our society. Vito from 5T spoke on the important issue of AI and protecting our arts and creative industries. Eddie and Alex from 5T advocated for responsible and sustainable government expenditure for the public good. I commend all students who entered the competition for their passionate advocacy. I am very confident we may yet see another MP coming out of Coburg West Primary School in the near future.
