Nina TAYLOR (Albert Park) (15:44): My electorate has one of the largest concentrations of arts organisations in the world, and I want to zone in on Theatre Works. It is one of the longest-running independent theatres. I want to also salute their new chair Susan Thacore and wish all the best to Krystalla Pearce, who is the new artistic director and CEO. I had the great pleasure of seeing William Shakespeare’s Reservoir Dogs last week. It was absolutely brilliant, as always – all their productions are very uplifting. I must say Theatre Works is much loved in the local area. Locals have a lot of pride in this theatre. They have coffees there as well during the week, and it is really fostering pathways for people into the creative arts. It is really great to see that the $1.1 million that we invested, along with philanthropy, into the upgrades to Theatre Works some time back is now actually reaping rewards for the actors and all the people who support the performances alike. It is really fantastic.
