Road maintenance
Wayne FARNHAM (Narracan) (15:33): My members statement today is written by Sienna Bucknall, a 16-year-old work experience student who is with me this week:
Yesterday there was thousands of dollars worth of damage on close to over 40 cars because the Premier cannot deliver what Victorians desperately need.
The Premier served as the Minister for Roads and Road Safety.
Victorians don’t have safe roads.
People do not have thousands of dollars or the time or the energy to sacrifice Labor’s incompetence.
The budget papers state the government exceeded its targets for regional pothole repairs in 2025–26, but if there is an excess of success I struggle to see it.
I witness with my own eyes on the Princes Highway near Bunyip. Victorians couldn’t get to work, couldn’t get out of the weather, they were forced to put their lives at risk because of Labor’s expensive but cheaply executed band aid fixes.
If a 16-year-old work experience student gets what is going on in my electorate, how come the government cannot accept it? We have had terrible roads under Andrews and terrible roads under Allan, and they are not going to be any different under Carroll. That is why the Victorian Liberals have a plan: $5 billion to fix a million potholes. It is only going to happen under Jess Wilson. It is not going to happen under those opposite, and I cannot wait for 28 November so our roads are in better condition.
