Ms Sonja Terpstra
Meet Sonja
Before entering Parliament, Sonja worked at the Legal/Industrial Office for the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation Victoria branch.
Sonja cares passionately about public education, in particular access and equity issues in education and ensuring everyone has equal access to education, no matter their circumstances or backgrounds. This is what prompted her to run for Parliament.
The priorities Sonja has for her community are infrastructure for public schools, and connecting with multicultural communities. She also wants to secure funding for community sporting clubs, as she believes that local community sport is critical to the health of our children.
Sonja’s vision for Victoria’s future is that it continues to improve access to publicly funded health and education programs, work towards full equality and to work on improving and reducing insecure work in Victoria.
The areas of public policy that she is most passionate about are public education, juvenile justice, insecure work and law reform generally.
