Budget 2025–26
Nicole WERNER (Warrandyte) (14:25): Ladies and gentlemen, another state budget has been handed down, and here we are, a decade deep into Labor’s financial mismanagement, spiralling debt and absolute deceit. This mob cannot manage money and insult Victorians with their smoke-and-mirrors spin, with misleading forecasts, manipulated figures and broken promises.
Just last week, in the dead of night, Labor ran through their 60th new or increased tax at 2 am in the morning, the emergency services levy, which thousands of Victorians are here on the front steps of Parliament protesting, and just this week Labor are introducing yet another two taxes. Labor is addicted to taxes. They keep coming back for one more hit, one more new tax: ‘I swear it’s the last time’ – but it is never the last time. Labor wastes your money, and you are paying for it.
So next time you are wondering why your grocery costs are going up and up, why it costs more for your morning coffee or why they cannot seem to fix that road across the corner from your house, this is why. We are paying $25 million in interest alone every single day, because Labor has bankrupted Victoria. A coalition government will do things differently. We will scrap the emergency services levy, commit to no new taxes and have a live spending tracker to have accountability for your money. Time is ticking on this corrupt, broke-as government. Join us as we rid the rot next November.
