Rulings from the Chair
Broadcast of proceedings
The SPEAKER (14:12): Before we move to members statements I take this opportunity to remind members of my ruling of March last year about standing order 234 and the rebroadcast of chamber proceedings. Members will know that standing order 233 provides for an official broadcast of chamber proceedings and standing order 234 provides for that official broadcast to be rebroadcast subject to certain requirements. Rebroadcasting various clips from the chamber on social media or online is a useful way for members to inform constituents of their work in the chamber. Standing order 234 prohibits digital manipulation of rebroadcast footage. I remind members that they must not edit or manipulate a rebroadcast clip in a way that changes the meaning or context of the clip. I ask members to take care when preparing broadcast clips for rebroadcast or asking staff to do it for them to ensure those clips comply with the terms of standing order 234.
