Preston electorate
Nathan LAMBERT (Preston) (12:55): (1139) My question is for the Minister for Community Sport, and my question is: what programs or initiatives are available to support sporting clubs in Reservoir like Lakeview Tennis Club, who are looking to upgrade their lighting to get more people involved? Lakeview Tennis Club is located just north of Edwardes Lake on Leamington Street and has been a key part of the Reservoir community since its founding in the mid-1960s. Unfortunately its growth has been held back in recent years by the state of courts 5, 6, 7 and 8, particularly the lack of LED lighting to support its night competitions. I would like to pay tribute to club president Richard Cosway, who not only leads the organisation through all of the tournaments and events for their adult and junior members and of course for those locals who play casually through our book-a-court system but advocates tirelessly in Darebin for better facilities for their club. I know a lot of work goes into pulling together those quotes and grant submissions and advocating to all three levels of government. Any information the minister can provide, particularly with respect to coordinating support with Darebin council, would be greatly appreciated.
