Financial Management Legislation Amendment Bill 2025
Introduction and first reading
Danny PEARSON (Essendon – Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, Minister for Finance) (12:58): I move:
That I introduce a bill for an act to amend the Financial Management Act 1994, the Constitution Act 1975 and the Local Government Act 1989 and for other purposes.

Danny PEARSON (Essendon – Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, Minister for Finance) (12:58): The Financial Management Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 amends the Financial Management Act 1994 to ensure the financial framework of the state is fit for purpose and the public sector is resilient to future challenges. It also provides direction to departments and public bodies to ensure they are using resources in a fiscally sustainable way, having regard to the decisions of government and to proper financial management.
