Laverton electorate infrastructure projects
Sarah CONNOLLY (Laverton) (13:09): Something very, very, very special happened last Tuesday morning in the heart of Sunshine. The new Premier and I, along with Minister Stitt in the other place, popped down to Sunshine to visit Brimbank City Council and fantastic representatives from the Sunshine Business Association. We discussed around the table the really important projects to the people of Brimbank and most importantly to the folks in the Laverton electorate. We talked about amazing projects like the Metro Tunnel, the West Gate Tunnel, the Albion station rebuild – an entire $80 million worth of investment happening right there – and the $143 million Sunshine precinct master plan, as well as Melbourne Airport rail. This was a great conversation in which our new Premier was able to hear directly from Brimbank City Council, and the views of our community were put forward. We are keen to see these projects delivered. We then went on to have a walk around Albion station. This $80 million upgrade of this much-loved – but in much need of an upgrade – station sits at the very heart of the Albion community. Our new Premier was able to see firsthand what an entire rebuild and upgrade to this station will mean to the local community. I look forward to working with the new Minister for Transport Infrastructure to deliver these very projects.
