Drouin police resources
Wayne FARNHAM (Narracan) presented a petition bearing 753 signatures:
Issue
This petition of residents in Victoria draws to the attention of the Legislative Assembly the lack of a 24/7 police station in Drouin and the risk it is creating in the local community. The current Drouin police station is often unmanned, and when issues occur within Drouin police, if available, are sent from Warragul causing significant delay in response times. Both Drouin and Warragul are growing rapidly in population, with recent data showing annual population growth of more than 3 per cent each year. By 2041 it is estimated Baw Baw Shire will grow to be more than 87,000 with the majority of new residents moving to Drouin and Warragul. The redevelopment of the Drouin police station and allocation of new officers needs to occur immediately to support the community.
Action
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly direct the Victorian Government to take immediate action so that a 24/7 station can operate within Drouin to protect the local and surrounding communities.
Ordered that petition be considered tomorrow.
