Sir John Bloomfield
Michael O’BRIEN (Malvern) (12:56): On another matter, I acknowledge the extraordinary service of one of my predecessors in the district of Malvern Sir John Bloomfield. A proud Liberal, Sir John was a barrister and served his country as an army officer during World War II. He was elected to Malvern on 11 July 1953 and served until 18 May 1970 – a period of 6156 days, which included 11 years as the Minister of Education. He was Parliament’s longest serving member for Malvern until today, and I take this opportunity to acknowledge his exceptional service to the people of Malvern and the Parliament of Victoria.
