 Jacinta ERMACORA (Western Victoria) (15:49): The Carroll Labor government is backing young people, science and innovation in the heart of south-west Victoria. Along with the south-west schools, local governments, community and South West TAFE, it was my deep honour to open the South West Tech School at Warrnambool last week, and it was a particular delight to represent Minister for Education Gab Williams. It was an absolutely joyous occasion. I was particularly pleased to be joined by former Minister for Skills and TAFE Gayle Tierney. Local musician Shane Howard of Goanna fame treated us to a performance of his song The River Knows. School students were excitedly getting on with 3D printing, creating products from recycled plastic and even making ice cream in the food technology lab. These are hands-on and high-energy experiences that will help students build practical skills and gain insights into the jobs of the future. I want to congratulate Mark Fidge, CEO of South West TAFE; Rohan Keert, director of South West technical school; and everyone involved, including all of the other businesses, community groups, government services like Wannon Water and the partners involved with the tech school.
