 Rikkie-Lee TYRRELL (Northern Victoria) (15:08): (2634) My constituency question is for the Minister for Community Sport. My constituents ask: will the minister commit funding of $350,000 to Longwood Football Netball Club to upgrade the arena lighting at the Longwood Recreation Reserve? The Longwood Recreation Reserve is the only significant green community space in Longwood and is the home to the mighty Longwood Redlegs during the football and netball season. The reserve regularly hosts community events and played an important role in protecting the community as an area of last resort during the devastating Longwood fires. The reserve currently has halogen lights on two towers, and the proposed upgrade will see LED lighting fixed to each tower to produce 100 lux lighting. This upgrade would create a safer environment for players and other community members utilising the reserve. The fires last January showed that Longwood is an amazingly resilient community who deserve improved infrastructure in their town, and I urge the minister to commit the $350,000 needed to make this lighting upgrade a reality.
