 David DAVIS (Southern Metropolitan) (15:41): I want today to draw the chamber’s attention to the sad death of my friend and former colleague Peter Katsambanis. He was elected in 1996 to this place and was not elected in 2002. But his career was remarkable in the sense that he was a member in three chambers in Australia, both the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly in Western Australia and also this chamber here. He was a very good member for Monash Province, as it was in those days, and he will be sorely missed. He was a very strong member of the Greek community and church and a very active Christian. Also, I should say, he was a very active liberal student, a person who was in many ways a purist in the way he looked at things philosophically. He was always prepared to have a very strong debate with people, and I enjoyed many of those debates with him. He married twice, but most recently he was married to Karalee Tilvern, now Katsambanis, and she spoke remarkably at the funeral on Friday. There were so many people at that funeral. The church in Prahran was absolutely packed to the rafters and out onto the street, with I think several hundred people in fact out on the street. I was one of those just near the door of the church, so I could hear and see everything. Peter will be missed greatly. He was a friend, a colleague and a person of great integrity.
