 Richard WELCH (North-Eastern Metropolitan) (15:03): (2629) My constituency matter is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. Last year I asked for ‘Keep clear’ sign markings to be placed on Elgar Road at the corner of Anthony Crescent in Box Hill, where residents struggle to get in and out of their side street safely, particularly during peak hour. The government declined, advising that ‘Keep clear’ markings are not installed to help traffic turn out of side streets. However, in a 2019 tweet, VicRoads said:

Keep Clear zones … allow people to merge or enter from side roads …

and posted a diagram of a car driving out of a side road. There are also examples of exactly this nearby at the intersection of Melrose Street and Elgar Road. Residents in Anthony Crescent are simply asking for the same consideration in the interests of their safety. Will the minister ask the department to reconsider adding ‘Keep clear’ markings at Anthony Crescent and advise residents when they can expect a decision?
