Ann-Marie HERMANS (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (10:24): President, I too rise to say what a great honour it has been to be a member of the 60th Parliament. I thank you, and I thank all my colleagues from across the chamber for everything that they have contributed to try to make a difference. It has been an absolute privilege and honour to represent the Liberal Party in the south-east and a privilege to fight for the people of the south-east and to give them a voice – those who are so often neglected or forgotten and who feel that this government has not listened to their concerns. I want to thank my husband, my four children, my family, my extended family and my staff. You have been amazing; I have had many of you over the years. I especially want to thank Amy, Amber, Maja and also some past ones that have been with me for quite a while over the years: Josiah, Talitha, Neil and Anne. I cannot do what I do without the support of people. When I came in, I came in as a person who loved God and loved people, and regardless of what happens in the next few months and the next few years, I will continue to live that way. It is always a privilege to represent a party that stands for something, and it is my great privilege to stand here and represent the Liberal Party. I believe in Liberal Party values. I will always believe in those values of freedom and of being able to stand up for people and give them the opportunity to have their businesses, to raise their families the way they want to, to get the government out of their lives and to let them get on with their lives. I thank Jess Wilson for her leadership. I know that we will make a great team going forward.
