Government performance
Georgie CROZIER (Southern Metropolitan) (10:00): Dumped cars on the sides of roads, graffiti, rubbish and potholes galore. The decline in Victoria’s roads is symbolic of the degradation of the state – a state where crime is out of control, where corruption has seen $15 billion of taxpayers money line the pockets of bikies and criminals and where doing business and being able to get ahead is becoming more difficult due to the increasing tax burden placed on Victorians as a result of Labor’s out-of-control debt. It is a government where they seem to think accountability and transparency mean nothing. Let us not forget that in 2009, when Daniel Andrews was health minister, health data was manipulated. Now we cannot even get the health data – or will they drop it on grand final weekend after Parliament rises, or will they just continue to hide the true state of the mess our health system is in? It is a government where they con Victorians for their vote and then turn their backs on them – remember the Commonwealth Games debacle? They are a government so desperate to cling to power that they will do anything to hold onto power – lie, run pathetic scare campaigns, block elected representatives from being able to do their job and allow corruption and rorts to thrive with their mates.
They are not only a deceitful government but a government bereft of ideas and without a plan to get Victoria out of the mess they have put us all in. The Premier is so weak he has not even got an original policy idea. He was there as the chief head-nodder to Daniel Andrews and deputy to Jacinta Allan. He is a follower, not a leader. He takes all the Liberals and Nationals ideas, announces a weak royal commission into corruption and says he will fix a few potholes and recruit a few police, pretending to be tough on crime. But he has no plan to reduce debt, to fix a broken health system or to ensure our communities are safer. Victoria needs a fresh start, a government that works and a government that has a plan. Only the Liberal and Nationals will do exactly that.
