 Wendy LOVELL (Northern Victoria) (13:00): (2553) My question is for the Minister for Health. Will the minister commit to funding an integrated cancer centre at Goulburn Valley Health in Shepparton? The Victorian government spent $2 million on planning for stage 2 of the Goulburn Valley Health redevelopment, which included an integrated cancer centre, and then betrayed Shepparton by putting stage 2 on ice and claiming the job was fully completed when only stage 1 had been constructed. The federal government has allocated $30 million towards design and the start of construction for the cancer centre, but the state Labor government has so far failed to provide its share of the funding to complete the vital project. An integrated cancer centre will bring all oncology services under one roof at the hospital, and this is a top priority for GV Health, as it is the only major regional health service without an integrated cancer centre. The Victorian government must now do its part and provide the necessary funding to complete the cancer centre.
