 Ann-Marie HERMANS (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (12:59): (2552) My question is to the Minister for Prevention of Family Violence. Minister, family violence rates are horrifically high in this state, particularly in my region in the south-east. A constituent in my local area who is a victim-survivor of family violence has recently shared her story. Despite years of support from family violence services, police and other relevant authorities, she and her daughter have no permanent home to go to. Without a safe home, they stand at much greater risk of becoming involved with the perpetrator. The constituent has done everything she can to get a safe home, as have the various workers that have supported her. But she said:

The whole reason why I can’t receive help is no one has got funding.

People like my constituent – mothers, daughters, children – are sleeping in cars. Minister, when are you going to get your priorities right and adequately fund critical family violence services, including ensuring permanent homes for victim-survivors?
