 John BERGER (Southern Metropolitan) (09:55): I recently had the opportunity to attend the reopening of the St Kilda PCYC. This is a place that has provided a welcoming and non-judgemental space for kids in our community. It was a sad situation to hear of the plans to close it down a few years ago, but due to the tireless efforts of members and the community the situation has turned around. I want to pay tribute to the locals and the community members who fought tooth and nail to make sure that the centre kept the doors open. I do not think there is any doubt as to the value of the service that the St Kilda PCYC provides, and it is great to see such an important institution continue to operate. I want to congratulate Port Phillip council, community activists, the federal member for Macnamara Josh Burns and the team at PCYC on their success, and I wish them all the very best going forward.
