Adjournment
COVID-19 vaccination
Moira DEEMING (Western Metropolitan) (19:18): (2679) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Health, and the action that I seek is for the Minister for Health to table all advice and documentation provided to the Victorian government on COVID-19 vaccine safety in pregnancy and female reproductive health, along with any analysis by the government or its agencies for the years 2021 to 2023. This week US senators Rand Paul and Ron Johnson released private communications from Dr Anthony Fauci. They showed that in January 2021 Dr Fauci flagged that a second dose of COVID-19 vaccine could be associated with miscarriage in the first trimester. These are the same vaccines that this government rolled out and mandated and forced onto pregnant women who were told to take it or lose their jobs and income in the lead-up to having their babies. The stress that that would have put on the mothers is unimaginable. We know that these mothers trusted the government. They trusted that someone in the government, someone in charge, would have read the data and weighed the risk to protect them and their child. On hearing this information come to light in the United States, I am very angry for every woman who was stripped of her livelihood over a decision that she was never allowed to make freely. I am angry at those who issued the orders and asked no hard questions. I am angry that concern was treated as dissent or hysteria or paranoia or selfishness and that caution was treated as defiance. And I am angry over the babies that were possibly lost due to this.
