Wendy LOVELL (Northern Victoria) (14:08): (2491) My question is for the Minister for Education. Will the minister provide funding for safety and usability upgrades to an outdoor area at Woodend Primary School? When he was Minister for Education, now Premier Ben Carroll failed to properly maintain school buildings in the Macedon Ranges shire. Sixty per cent of the schools in the shire are in poor or worn condition, but only one school received a small amount of funding in this year’s state budget. Liberal candidate for Macedon Kate Kendall and I have both visited Woodend Primary School to inspect the site. On my visit I had the pleasure of watching the amazing staff teach eager learners, but I also saw leaking ceilings, rotting doorframes and outdoor areas with trip hazards. Woodend Primary has submitted a grant application to make safe and redevelop an outdoor area that has cracked and uneven footpaths and exposed concrete piping. I strongly support the school’s funding application and ask the minister to fund this project and other maintenance at Woodend Primary.
