Constituency questions
Southern Metropolitan Region
John BERGER (Southern Metropolitan) (14:02): (2485) My constituency question is directed towards the Minister for Veterans in the other place. More than 500 Victorian students have been awarded the Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize since the program began in 2005, including many students from Southern Metro. Winners are sent on a study tour to explore the world and learn about Australia’s war and peacekeeping history through the stories of our veterans. This program is important for many reasons: it ensures future generations connect with our history; funds travel for exceptional young Victorians to represent our state overseas; and in their own words, provides an opportunity to connect with their peers, their history and themselves. My question to the minister is this: how has this government increased its support for this program, and in what other ways has this government supported Victorians, young and old, to learn about the history of our veterans?
