 Evan MULHOLLAND (Northern Metropolitan) (22:17): (2725) My adjournment is for the Minister for Police, and it concerns a shocking story we saw today of a 30 per cent increase in crime at stations where PSOs have been cut by this Labor government – at 119 different stations. I want to put to you a stat: 215 per cent. That is how much crime has increased at Roxburgh Park train station in my electorate – it is incredible – with 17 assaults and 38 offences. At Coolaroo, there was a 37 per cent increase in crime incidents at Coolaroo train station – another train station where PSOs have been cut. The government has moved Roxburgh Park train station up to a category 3 train station, which means there will be roaming PSOs at Roxburgh Park station. I have gone down there after 5 pm. I have asked multiple people who use Roxburgh Park train station daily if they have recently seen a PSO or PSOs at Roxburgh Park train station. No-one has seen them. So I would really put the question to the government as to whether PSOs are actually being deployed to Roxy train station, because my community deserve to know.

I have spoken to several constituents who since the so-called redeployment of these PSOs have not seen them and feel unsafe walking to their car or walking from Roxburgh Park train station to Roxy Village. Our number one priority as a government is to make the community feel safe, to make sure people are safe, and that clearly has not happened with a 217 per cent increase in crime at Roxburgh Park train station. Thankfully, the good people of the electorate of Greenvale and Roxburgh Park do not have to wait long, because if they vote for Jim Overend, our candidate for Greenvale, they will be able to elect him. He has got a clear plan and a policy to put PSOs back on Roxburgh Park train station and back on Coolaroo train station so that we can keep our community safe. So the action I seek is for the minister to increase their presence at Roxburgh Park train station and review the category of Roxburgh Park train station for PSOs.
