 Anasina GRAY-BARBERIO (Northern Metropolitan) (12:55): (2532) My constituency question is for the Minister for Police. Minister, my constituent, a sex worker, contacted me after choosing not to report a crime against them because of misinformation provided by a uniformed member of Victoria Police. Sex work is work, and sex workers deserve to be treated with respect and dignity and to have equal access to justice and police protection. This experience highlights the need to ensure that Victoria Police members understand the rights and needs of sex workers and are equipped to respond appropriately. Minister, my constituent asks: will you advocate for additional sex worker affirmative training of frontline and new recruits to Victoria Police to ensure sex workers have access to a safe working environment, justice and recourse when it is needed?
