Adjournment
Northern Metropolitan Region
Anasina GRAY-BARBERIO (Northern Metropolitan) (13:13): (2437) My constituency question is for the Minister for Housing and Building. My constituent Hodan lives in a public housing tower in Flemington. According to Hodan, maintenance issues in the building caused her apartment and the entire floor to flood with sewage water, leaving it uninhabitable and unsafe. Through no fault of her own Hodan and her children have been forced into crisis accommodation and remain without a suitable long-term home. Hodan’s son is disabled, and on advice from medical professionals she submitted a special accommodation requirements form stating that any property offered must not contain balconies or multiple flights of stairs due to significant safety concerns. Despite this, her housing office has only offered homes with balconies, overcrowding and multiple flights of stairs, while pressuring her to accept them or be moved off the priority housing list. Minister, you have failed to keep this family safe. Will you find them a suitable home urgently?
