Ombudsman referral
The PRESIDENT (12:06): I advise of an update from the Ombudsman. I have received a letter from the Ombudsman dated 3 July 2026 advising that the investigation into matters referred by the Legislative Council on 30 July 2025 relating to the performance of the quality assessment and regulation division of the Department of Education in monitoring and investigating enforcement compliance with Victoria’s Child Safe Standards and the national quality framework is progressing well. However, it appears unlikely that they will be in a position to report to the Parliament during the parliamentary term. The Ombudsman will keep the house apprised of any further developments and table the investigation report in both houses when it is complete.
David DAVIS (Southern Metropolitan) (12:07): I move:
That the Ombudsman’s letter be taken into account on the next day of meeting.
Motion agreed to.
