Adjournment
Western Victoria Region
Bev McARTHUR (Western Victoria) (13:03): (2428) My constituency question is for the Minister for Education, whoever it might be. Winchelsea Primary School faces deteriorating facilities, inadequate secure fencing and enrolments exceeding capacity in 2027. Around 10 per cent of students are neurodiverse. Yet repeated capital bids have failed, leaving parents to fundraise for government-owned buildings. On 24 July, more than two months after she wrote to the then education minister, now Premier, he replied to school council president Megan Morris. He pointed to a $10 million planning allocation shared between 20 schools and said Winchelsea’s master plan would proceed only if funding was provided in a future state budget. He also expected the school to fund priority 3, 4 and 5 maintenance itself. Minister, whoever you may be, will the government fund Winchelsea’s master plan in the next budget, including secure fencing and urgently needed capacity?
